Rafik Hariri University invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA).
Licensed in 2006 under the name “Hariri Canadian University”, RHU is Located on a beautiful campus of around 60,000 m2 in Mechref, 20Km south of Beirut, Lebanon. RHU enrolls approximately 1000 undergraduate and graduate students, employs around 70 faculty members and offers 16 programs in four colleges: the College of Engineering, the College of Business Administration, the College of Science and Information Systems and the College of Arts. Successful candidate is expected to work closely and report to the President. AS the Chief Academic Officer of the University, the VPAA is expected to: provide leadership and support to the faculty, assess their performance, seek faculty development opportunities and make decisions on hiring, contract terminations and promotions; monitor and lead the implementation of the university strategic plan; continually improve on existing programs, support efforts to establish new niche programs, exploit emerging trends and technologies, ensure programs’ alignment with learning outcomes, and lead effort to attain local and international accreditation for all programs; participate in the preparation of annual university budget and in the monitoring of fiscal conditions; guide faculty research efforts; develop strong relation with the community and lead effort to improve enrollment; serve on the University boards and committees and complete special projects and duties as assigned by the President.
a) An earned doctorate with academic credentials for appointment to the rank of Professor; b) have a strong record of scholarly activities with successful teaching experience; c) demonstrate strong leadership skills and vision, and d) have successful administrative experience as a dean and preferably as a VP for academic affairs.
Applicants must also display strong commitment to quality teaching, students’ success, and scholarly work; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the internal and external publics of the university; strong leadership and communication skills; and vision to advance the academic standards of the university.
Evidence of the applicant’s experience must be supported by a statement of leadership philosophy addressing vision, scholarly work and communication, management experience supported by tangible evidence.
