    BIOGRAPHY
Iyad Fayssal is a lecturer in the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department. Dr. Fayssal earned his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Lebanese University in 2009. In 2010, he received a full-scholarship award from the American University of Beirut to pursue his graduate studies, and in 2012, he earned the Master’s degree in the field of Applied Energy. He immediately joined the PhD program at the American University of Beirut with a full-scholarship award and received his PhD degree in fall semester 2017-2018. Dr. Fayssal’s PhD research is relevant to the area of Biomedical Engineering where he has worked on developing a 3D non-invasive tool to predict disease functional significance in human diseased coronary arteries. He is the recipient of the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research PhD Award (18,000 USD), Abdul Hadi Debs Endowment Award for Academic Excellence, Professor Emeritus Fateh Sakkal Renewable Energy Research Award, Elsevier Reviewer Recognition Award in recognition for the review made for Energy Conversion and Management journal, and Best Graduate Paper Award at SFEA conference (out of PhD work). During his PhD, Dr. Fayssal has developed a detailed interdisciplinary research proposal (30,000 USD) that served in funding his PhD research. During his PhD candidacy, he was also invited by the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine to chair the session of Computational Biology and Hemodynamics/Biophysics and Modeling at the IUPESM 2015 World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering that was held in Toronto.
