Dr. Hajj Omar is an economics lecturer in Rafik Hariri University and Lebanese International University. She obtained a doctorate degree in Business Administration DBA from Paris School of Business and PHD in Economics from Washington International University. Ever since 2007, she’s been teaching different courses in Economics in Modern University for Business and Sciences (2007-2023) and Lebanese International University (2009 till present) and Rafik Hariri University (2022 till present). The taught courses covered a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Managerial Economics, Econometrics, Engineering Economics, Business Math and Business Statistics.
Dr. Hajj Omar’s research explores the intersection of migration, economic resilience, and public policy in Lebanon and the broader Middle East. She is deeply committed to producing research that is both academically rigorous and socially impactful. Her recent work has focused on the Lebanese diaspora and the economic contributions of return migrants. She is currently developing a follow-up research agenda that aims to: - Analyze the role of return migration in revitalizing rural economies in Lebanon - Investigate diaspora investment behavior in post-crisis economies - Explore macroeconomic modeling tools to simulate policy outcomes related to migration
In two peer-reviewed articles published in Edelweiss Applied Science and Technology (2025), she examined the socio-economic linkages between expatriate communities and their home country, emphasizing the potential for sustainable development through engagement with the diaspora.
