Amazing news about RHU alumnus Jad N Khodor was received this afternoon. On December 7, Mr. Khodor will be receiving the Lohrmann medal bestowed upon the best graduates of the faculty of civil engineering in TU Dresden, Germany. An article that spoke of his excellence was published on the civil engineering blog and in the university journal. It mentioned that he is from Lebanon and a Rafik Hariri University graduate. Thank you Jad for making us proud, on to bigger and bigger accomplishments.
Mr. Khodor is currently pursuing his PhD in the Institute of Structural Analysis at TU Dresden on the topic of fatigue crack growth. Renowned German Professor in the field of computational engineering Michael Kaliske is Mr. Khodor’s PhD supervisor.
Translating the text: “Jad Khodor comes from Lebanon. He earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the College of Engineering Rafik Hariri University with a very good grade. He decided to come to Germany because of the high standards in research. He chose the English master program ACCESS. He started his studies in 2014 in the faculty of civil engineering, two years later he submitted his master thesis on the topic ‘Analysis of concrete flow in the pipe and the influence of the lubrication layer on the concrete pumpability using numerical approaches. At the moment, he is doing his PhD in the institute of structural analysis on the topic "fatigue of materials" such as rubbers, wood and steel. Together with Jad Khodor, the 19 best graduates will be awarded the Lohrmann medal on the 7th of December, 2018. The award is given to only one graduate from each faculty. He is the one from civil engineering.
