Reverting back to online learning for Fall 2020

    Dear RHU Family,

I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and in good health, and that the damage from the explosion, if any, is minimal.  The pandemic seems to be making a strong comeback in Lebanon and safety of our students, faculty and staff is paramount.  With you in mind, the University has decided the following for the coming Fall Semester:

    • All courses for the Fall Semester will be offered in an online mode. We will watch very carefully the progress of the pandemic and when conditions permit, we will transition to a blended and then, hopefully, fully on-campus mode.
    • Every department at RHU will hold an on-campus orientation meeting intended to familiarize new students with University procedures, departmental faculty and staff and their contact information, use of Moodle and more. The orientation meetings will be held in large lecture halls in order to preserve social distancing.  For those among you who prefer not to attend in person, all the material will be sent to you via email and posted on the RHU link. You will also be put in touch with your advisor who will make sure to answer any questions and provide further clarification.
    • The mid-term as well as the final examination will be held on-campus with strict adherence to physical distancing and disinfection procedures.
    • For special assistance in resolving issues dealing with personal/special needs, please contact Ms. Sahar Hallak (fakhransh@rhu.edu.lb) for continuing students or Ms. Zeina Tannir (tannirzn@rhu.edu.lb) for new students.
    • Campus life fees and IT fees will be waived for any period covered by online teaching.
    • RHU will continue monitoring any decisions made by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and will abide by its recommendations and decisions.

Together, let us look forward to a productive year and we all hope that fulltime on-campus education will resume in the very near future.

    Stay safe,

    Professor Makram Suidan
