RHU proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Computer and Communications Engineering alumna Asmaa Hindawi, who mentored a team of middle school students from Global International School (GIS) to win the gold medal and the Youth Grand Prize at the International Innovation Week (IWA) 2026 in Singapore.
Eng. Hindawi mentored five brilliant GIS students, Doha Dabdoub, Julia Manaa, Mohammad Khatib, Naya Nahas, and Yousef Sayyed, in developing SafePack IoT, an innovative educational safety solution that enhances student well-being and security through smart technology. The award-winning project features:
- Posture Correction: Real-time posture tracking with haptic alerts.
- Secure Compartment: PIN-protected anti-theft storage with a light-triggered alarm.
- Radio-Linked SOS: Wristband with proximity alerts and an emergency SOS button.
- Well-Being Monitoring: Smart reminders for hydration and activity breaks.
Reflecting on the experience, Eng. Hindawi said: "RHU empowered me to pursue innovation with confidence and purpose. Mentoring these talented young students and witnessing their success on the international stage has been incredibly rewarding. My greatest hope was to inspire them with the same passion for excellence that my professors at RHU instilled in me."
