Rafik Hariri University (RHU) proudly celebrates Dr. Grasiella Harb, Associate Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Languages and Liberal Arts Unit, on joining the international contributor team of The Deep Culture Experience, a podcast hosted by Dr. Joseph Shaules of the Japan Intercultural Institute (JII).
Bringing together intercultural communication experts from around the world, The Deep Culture Experience explores the psychology behind how culture shapes the way we perceive, interpret, and connect.
In her first segment, featured in the new season launching on September 15, Dr. Harb reflects on a powerful classroom moment in which students expressed differing perspectives on how to describe those who have lost their lives in Lebanon’s ongoing war. Drawing on this experience, she highlights the profound influence of culture on our perceptions, judgments, and understanding of the world:
“Culture shapes how we see, judge, and understand the world before we're aware of it. My classroom is, in many ways, a small reflection of Lebanese society and its subcultures.”
Dr. Harb’s contribution brings her years of teaching and research in intercultural and interpersonal communication to an international audience, highlighting education's important role in fostering deeper cultural awareness, understanding, and meaningful dialogue.
Her participation in The Deep Culture Experience highlights the impact of her academic work. It reflects RHU’s commitment to advancing academic excellence, promoting global engagement, and creating opportunities for meaningful international dialogue through education and research.
Congratulations, Dr. Harb, on this inspiring international achievement and for proudly representing Rafik Hariri University on the global academic stage!
