RHU proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of Civil Engineering Class of 2020 graduate Ahmad Shawki Charkieh, who, on Monday, July 6, 2026, successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Engineering Sciences with the greatest distinction from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
His doctoral research, titled "Study of the Mechanical Performance of Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Matrix Composites Produced Using 3D-Printing Techniques," focused on advancing the next generation of smart, sustainable, and high-performance composite materials. The research presents a comprehensive framework spanning the upcycling of plastic waste into high-performance composites, the design of advanced architected structures, and the integration of intelligent structural health monitoring systems, paving the way for more resilient, sustainable, and innovative engineering solutions.
