The American Society of Civil Engineers RHU Student Chapter and their advisor associate professor of civil engineering, Dr. Mirvat Abdallah, visited Mseilha Dam on Saturday, September 28, 2019. This educational and fun trip unraveled the objective behind building the dam, which is the creation of a reservoir capable of ensuring drinking water, water supply to industries, and irrigation water in Cazas of Batroun and Koura. The visit was followed by a 3-km hiking through the majestic nature of the Mseilha Walkway and along the wonderful riverbank and amazing scenery.
RHU ASCE are appreciative of the kind support of Libanconsult, especially Engineer Michel Saliba who gave a detailed presentation about the dam, and the Batco Group, specifically the Engineer Boutrous Germanos.
The ASCE represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries worldwide.
RHU considers that field trips allows students to acquire hands-on experience necessary for success in their profession.
