Another proud achievement for RHU students has been realized this week. RHU computer science team won the 3rd place in the MuniTech 2019 National Contest held at the Lebanese University on July 26, 2019 from 3 to 8 p.m., competing with 20 other teams from more than 12 different universities in Lebanon. The RHU team, consisting of Mr. Mahmoud Dafer and Mr. Mohammad Kurjieh and their supervisor Dr. Mohamad El-Abed, chairperson and associate professor of RHU Computer and Information Systems Department, presented Baladiyati Platform mobile application that can be used for recycling purposes.
The team presented Baladiyati Platform mobile application. This application is paired to a smart recycling container that can track the amount of recyclable material that the user places inside it. The amounts can then be transferred to points that the user can redeem as gifts, thus motivating the user to recycle.
MuniTech is Lebanon’s first university student contest to present innovative solutions towards improving the delivery of municipality services.
