    RHU concludes its National School Competition: the 5th annual celebration of talent

    RHU College of Arts announced the winners of its 5th Annual National School Competition on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 during a special event that celebrated the talents of more than 105 high school students in the areas of public speaking, essay writing (Arabic and English), video, and the “Go Green” project. The winners were accorded scholarships from RHU that ranged from 50% for first place winners, 30% for the second place, and 25% for the third place.

     

     

    The Chair of the Humanities and Languages Department, Dr. Hiam Loutfi, welcomed the attendees with a brief speech that highlighted the importance of learning opportunities beyond the classroom by saying “The learning opportunities beyond the classroom we apply today are improving quality of life and making your world more convenient.”

     

    The winners under each competition category in the order from the first to the third place were:

    English essay writing competition: Lynn Barbaji (Al Makassed Omar Bin Al Khattab College), Hassan Ghezzawi (Hariri High School III), and Wael Tawil (Hariri High School III).

    Arabic essay writing competition: Yara Fakih (Bazoreieh Official High School), Jamila ElKhatib (Al Manhal School), and Raghad Fares (Al Manhal School).

    Arabic public speaking competition: Fatima Safyeeden (Dar Al Sadik), Abdel Kader ElBaba (Rafik Hariri High School), and Joelle Nasser (Riad Al Solh Public School).

    English public speaking competition: Christina Sarieddine (Baakline Official Secondary School), Yasmine Abdul Ghani (Saint Mary's Orthodox College), and Mazen Nasser (Riad Al Solh Public School).

     

     

    The winners of the video and project competition are in the order from the first to the fifth place: Reem Sarieddeen (Baakline Official Secondary School), Karim El Bizri (Rafik Hariri High School), Jana Mannaa (Bazoreieh Official High School), Mohamad Danab (Makassed Islamic High School), and Nour Damaj (Al Manhal School).

     

    The participating schools were: Hariri High School III, Dar Al Sadik, Riad Al Solh Public School, Makassed Islamic High School, Saint Mary's Orthodox College, Rafik Hariri High School, Al Makassed Omar Bin Al Khattab College, Averroes College, Khaled Bin al Walid/ Al Horj College, Zahia Kaddoura Public Secondary School, Al Manhal School, Baakline Official Secondary School, Rajaa College, Bazoreieh Official High School and Shaheed Bilal Fahs Nabatieh.

     

     

    All competition categories were characterized by committees composed of professors and specialists and a uniting “I CARE" theme for all four competitions where the participants had to tackle the topic of “Go Green”.
