The RHU Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, in collaboration with the IEEE RHU Student Branch and the IEEE-EMBS RHU Student Chapter, organized the second community outreach workshop for high school students during the 2024/2025 academic year. Held on April 4-5, 2025, at the scenic RHU campus in Mechref, the event attracted around 70 students. The workshop successfully achieved its primary objectives to serve the local community, spread technical knowledge, and introduce students to the ABET-accredited electrical, biomedical, and computer and communications engineering programs offered by the RHU College of Engineering.

The event began with a presentation by the ECE Dean Dr. Mohamad Taha, Chairperson Dr. Mohamad Diab, Dr. Maher Sabbah, and Ms. Amal El Arid. They were introduced to the ECE Department and the IEEE and IEEE-EMBS student societies. The students were divided into three groups for hands-on workshops. The first two groups, led by ECE lab engineer Ms. Milana Kassab, created a heart rate monitor connected to a phone app and explored an automated home activity system powered by photovoltaic cells, highlighting renewable energy.

Meanwhile, the third group, guided by Ms. Amal El Arid, built an IoT surveillance system connected to the cloud via a mobile app. RHU ECE students from the IEEE and IEEE-EMBS societies assisted throughout, providing technical support and enhancing the learning experience. The students followed clear instructions and successfully completed their projects. Certificates of attendance will be given upon request. Top performers will be offered 50% scholarships for pursuing a BE degree in one of the ECE Department programs.

Following the workshops, the students expressed gratitude for the hands-on experience, which deepened their understanding of engineering concepts and inspired many to consider future opportunities in the field.
