RHU engineering students go sensorless with thermodynamic principles

The 2nd Annual Water Shooting Robot Competition was held at RHU on April 18, 2023, between 10:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. at the green area near Block C. Seventeen teams of junior engineering students were challenged to design their prototypes and program them via a mathematical model-based framework, eliminating the use of actual physical sensors that continuously retrieve data and monitor the robot state during its operation. RHU assistant professor of mechanical engineering, Dr. Iyad Fayssal organized the competition.

RHU Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Department congratulates all participating teams and announces the first three winners of the competition. The 1st place winner team included Wassim Ghaddar, Ivan Semaan, Ibrahim Ghaddar, and Bashar Najjar. 2nd place went to Alaa Sabbagh, Saleh Sattouf, Ameen Hashash, and Bahaa Douckmak. In 3rd place came the team of Hadi Abdo, Ahmad Al Masri, Rawan Mallah, and Wajd Saleh.

Dr. Iyad Fayssal began the event with a welcome note to all the participating teams in the presence of the RHU MME chair and faculty members. The teams then gathered for a photo with their prototypes.
