RHU assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, Dr. Renalda El-Samra, presented the results of a six years long study on climate change impacts as part of the Water and Climate Change Conference. Organized by The Ibrahim Abd El Al Foundation (IAAF) for Sustainable Development, the Conference was held at the Order of Engineers and Architects in Beirut on July 18, 2019 starting 5:30 p.m.
Her session entitled “The impact of climate change on water resources in Lebanon" highlighted the results of the study on dynamically downscaling of global climate predictions over the eastern Mediterranean basin to a regional scale (focus: Lebanon). This study was used to evaluate the impact of climate change on silage maize (corn) agricultural yield in a pilot area (AREC) located in the central Bekaa region.
