RHU History students explore Lebanon's rich heritage through an educational field Trip

Forty students from RHU's HIST480VI: Special Topics in History, The Levant from Neolithic to Roman and CVLN302: Civilization Studies II, embarked on an educational field trip to the National Museum of Beirut and the ancient city of Byblos, led by Assistant Professor Farid Khoury in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Designed to complement classroom learning, the visit transformed historical concepts into lived experiences, giving students the unique opportunity to encounter archaeological treasures and iconic landmarks they had previously studied in lectures. By engaging directly with artifacts and historic sites, students gained a deeper understanding of the civilizations that shaped the Levant and an appreciation for Lebanon's rich cultural heritage.

Through guided discussions and firsthand observation, the field trip encouraged students to connect historical knowledge with tangible evidence, fostering critical thinking and a greater awareness of the region's enduring legacy.

The experience exemplified RHU's commitment to experiential learning by extending education beyond the classroom and inspiring students to explore, question, and engage with history in meaningful and lasting ways.
