RHU proudly hosted the closing ceremony of the 2026 National Debate Championship for Schools and Universities, bringing together 13 school teams and 10 university teams, with a total of 91 debaters competing in a celebration of critical thinking, public speaking, and constructive dialogue.
In the university category, the championship final featured teams from Rafik Hariri University and the Lebanese University of Arts and Sciences (LUAS). LUAS was crowned National Champion, while RHU secured second place. Both teams earned qualification to represent Lebanon at the Qatar International Debating Championship. In addition, Bayan Al Kurdi from the American University of Beirut was recognized as Best Speaker in the university category for her outstanding performance throughout the competition.
In the school category, the results were as follows:
- First Place: New Horizon School
- Second Place: Al Makassed – Khaled Bin Al Walid College
- Third Place: Al Makassed – Khadija Al Kobra Lycee
The top speakers in the school category were:
- First Place: Lara Basrawi – New Horizon School
- Second Place: Jana Hanineh – New Horizon School
- Third Place: Khaled Naameh – Al Makassed, Khaled Bin Al Walid College
The championship was held in partnership with the Saida Debate Initiative and was jointly organized and managed by PEAC Management and RHU.
More than a competition, the championship served as a dynamic platform for young people to exchange ideas, refine their argumentation skills, and demonstrate intellectual leadership. The event underscored the importance of investing in youth development and fostering a culture of dialogue, critical thinking, and civic engagement as essential pillars for building a more informed and resilient society.
