RHU is the first in Lebanon to establish an IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Chapter

RHU has proudly become the first university in Lebanon to establish a Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Chapter under the IEEE RHU Student Branch, marking a significant milestone in the University’s continued commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and leadership in emerging technologies.

The establishment of the CIS Chapter was made possible through the dedicated guidance of Ms. Amal El Arid from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the strong support of Dr. Maher Sabbah, IEEE Student Branch Counselor, and the efforts of Eng. Ahmad Sharara, RHU alumnus and former IEEE Student Branch President. The initiative was further supported by Dr. Rached Zantout, whose support contributed to its successful realization.

The Chapter is led by a dedicated student executive committee, including President Mohamad Ahmad El Halabi, Vice President Mohammad Shaaban, Secretary Riwa Abboud, Treasurer Adam Al-Khatib, and Social Media Manager Rama Ismail.

The newly established CIS Chapter will serve as a dynamic platform for students to engage with advanced fields such as neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary computing, while fostering research, collaboration, and professional development aligned with global IEEE standards.

This milestone reflects RHU’s strategic vision to empower students, strengthen its presence within international academic and professional networks, and position itself at the forefront of computational intelligence and future-driven technologies.
