RHU researchers advance our understanding of how the human brain changes across a lifetime

Rafik Hariri University proudly highlights the newly released preprint, “The Lifespan Architecture of Human EEG,” the result of an international research collaboration between RHU, MINDIG, and LASPI – Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne.

Led by RHU Lecturer and Lab Engineer, Ms. Milana Kasab, and PhD student at LASPI, the study analyzes EEG data from 1,763 healthy individuals aged 5 to 85, making it one of the most comprehensive lifespan EEG cohorts studied to date.

The findings reveal nonlinear and spatially organized patterns of brain development and aging, offering valuable insights into how brain electrical activity evolves throughout the human lifespan. The research also contributes to the development of normative EEG frameworks and brain charts, supporting future advances in neuroscience and brain health research.

This achievement reflects RHU’s commitment to interdisciplinary research, international collaboration, and innovation at the intersection of Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Signal Processing, and Artificial Intelligence.

A proud milestone for our researchers, and another important step toward understanding the human brain across a lifetime.
