The RHU ASCE Student Chapter organized a seminar about Earthquakes and their Impacts on the 23rd of March, 2023 in the main theatre.
Associate Professor and Chairperson of RHU Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Dr. Mehedeen Machaka discussed the causes of earthquakes. He examined the seismic activity and highlighted faults in Lebanon and the region. He described the effects of earthquakes and the best design approach for earthquake-resistant buildings that do not fail.
The participants developed a sufficient understanding of earthquakes and their hazards.
