RHU proudly announces that its student team Omnisign earned First Prize in the Public Choice category at the Final Year Project (FYP) Demo Day 2025, hosted by the Lebanese American University on May 26, 2025. The event was organized by the IEEE Lebanon Joint Chapter (RA24/IM09/CS23) in collaboration with the Lebanese IFAC Chapter and featured top FYPs from leading universities across Lebanon.

The winning RHU Omnisign team members, Nour El Hariri, Layth Ayache, Tayseer Laz, and Abou Baker Hussien Al Khatib, presented their groundbreaking project titled “An AI-Powered Multilingual Sign Language Interpreter and Translator,” conducted under the supervision of Dr. Oussama Mustapha, Associate Professor in RHU’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

The project leverages AI technology to offer real-time interpretation and translation of sign language across multiple spoken languages, aiming to bridge communication barriers for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. It reflects RHU’s ongoing commitment to developing innovative solutions with meaningful societal impact.
RHU congratulates the winning team and Dr. Mustapha on this outstanding achievement, which reaffirms the university’s mission to champion inclusion, technological innovation, and academic excellence.
