“Silent Yet Loud” RHU’s first Art Exhibition blends Art, Identity, and Sustainability

In the heart of Sidon’s historic district at the iconic Khan El Franj, RHU hosted its first art exhibition, “Silent Yet Loud” organized by the RHU Design Department in partnership with the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development. The exhibition brought together visual storytelling, creative expression, and social engagement. Showcasing original works in illustration, photography, and fashion design by RHU graphic design students, the event was supported by Agenda Culturel and the Yaman Group.

British-Lebanese artist Tom Young was the guest of honor and keynote speaker, reflecting on the role of art in the era of AI and sharing his deep connection to the city of Sidon.

The event opened with a welcoming speech by Ms. Serene Srouji, Chairperson of RHU Design Department, who described the event as “a celebration of creativity, heritage, and community.” She expressed gratitude to Ms. Nazik Rafik Hariri, the Chairperson of RHU Board of Trustees, for her continuous support and added, “This is a moment to honor not only the creativity of our youth but their power to shape a more conscious and culturally rich future.”

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Bahia Hariri, President of the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, and RHU President Dr. Said Ladki, in the presence of municipal and academic figures, faculty, students, and guests.

In her speech, Mrs. Hariri praised the creative spirit of RHU students and affirmed that their silent expressions through art carry powerful messages of change and hope for Lebanon’s future.

This exhibition is not just a showcase of our students’ talents, but a testament to the enduring power of creativity and the RHU spirit. Art, as we are reminded, transcends time, connecting us across generations through imagination, emotion, and expression. We are deeply grateful to Mrs. Nazik Rafik Hariri, whose unwavering support continues to make moments like this possible. At RHU, students are not passive learners, but part of something greater, where ideas bloom, and future leaders are shaped.”

The exhibition featured over 40 student artworks addressing themes such as identity, sustainability, and social awareness. A sustainable fashion show highlighted innovative designs made from recycled materials.

The second day included artist talks with prominent Lebanese creatives, offering insights into their artistic journeys and visions for the future of art in the Arab world. The event concluded with a visit to Hammam El Jadeed in Old Sidon, where attendees explored new works by Tom Young.
