Speaker: Mr. Wael Abou Chakra is a Program Director and Master Inventor at IBM Systems, working on the system Z platform which features pervasive encryption. He manages innovative missions in the Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, The Netherlands, and USA.Mr. Abou Chakra was born in Ammatour, Shouf and moved to the USA in 1986. He works at IBM campus in Research Triangle Park, NC where he spends most of his time on inventive future technologies.
Wael is the former IBM NC inventor of the year, President of the Patent champions group, innovation mentor, and holder for more than 300 inventions filed in the USA and across the globe. He is a recipient of Mullins Silver medal from Engineers Ireland, innovation awards from the UAE’s Ministry of Education and the British Computer Society, and President's volunteer service awards from US Presidents Bush and Obama. Al has been keynote speaker at various innovation focused events including Cloudcon in Dalian China, Resiliency conference in Montpellier France, North Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Abu Dhabi Innovation conference hosted by the Minister of Education Sheikh Nahyan, the University Of North Carolina, Duke University, Virginia Tech, San Jose State, TongJi university in Shanghai China, AUB and others.
Wael was featured by the Wall Street Journal and other international media for his innovative work and philanthropic efforts with the IBM Corporate Service Corps projects in Romania. One of his high-value inventions was featured on the BBC News as a major technology update.
