Learning at RHU fosters innovators and entrepreneurs. A team of three RHU alumni, Abbas Sandid (civil engineering), Mohammad Shaaban (computer and communications engineering), and Mohamad Ibrahim (mechatronics engineering), won 3rd place in the MIT Enterprise Forum, the most prestigious startup competition worldwide, on February 23, 2022, at Al Madinah Al Munawwarah. The team was honored by the Prince of Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Their startup HEXAFRESH was among the 2800 projects competing in this Forum. It qualified for the semi-finals (among 25 projects), then for the finals (10 projects), to finally rank third.
HEXAFRESH is an award-winning startup honored by the French Minister of Commerce. It is one of the top 12 startups worldwide in the Green Tech Global Innovation and Enterprise event, a finalist in the MIT Startup competition and HEC Paris Prix entrepreneurial, and was awarded USD 17k funding from the embassy of the Netherlands in Lebanon.
HEXAFRESH is the new personal climate control technology device that cools, purifies, dehumidifies, and refreshes a specific zone. It's portable, doesn't need any drainage or water refilling, and uses an ecofriendly-GreenTech cooling technology. Furthermore, its personal AC unit covers a specific 1.8 m3 spherical volume and requires 85% less electricity than a conventional AC.
HEXAFRESH provides users with the convenience and low energy consumption of traditional fans with the powerful cooling provided by conventional air conditioning (notable temperature difference up to 10 degrees).
