RHU reaffirmed its commitment to teaching excellence by hosting a dynamic professional development workshop titled “Flipped Learning in Higher Education: Rethinking Teaching in the AI Era.” Led by Professor Najwa Saba 'Ayon Fares, Academic Coordinator of the Languages and Liberal Arts Unit, the 90-minute session brought together full-time faculty from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Business for an engaging exploration of one of today’s most impactful instructional strategies.
Professor Saba 'Ayon Fares shared her extensive experience and research in innovative pedagogy. Faculty members were introduced to the core principles of flipped learning, the four essential pillars of effective flipped instruction, and a practical step-by-step guide to flipping a course. The session also addressed common implementation challenges and realistic solutions, while highlighting the relevance of flipped learning in the AI era, emphasizing how AI tools can support, but not replace, human-centered teaching.
Working with their course syllabi, participants engaged in reflective discussions and collaborative activities to reimagine their teaching approaches, making them more interactive, student-centered, and adaptive to technological change.
A special highlight of the event was the participation of RHU President, Professor Said Ladki, whose presence signalled strong institutional support for faculty growth and pedagogical advancement. His active engagement underscored RHU’s ongoing dedication to fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement in higher education.
