Dr. Mira M. Alameddine, an RHU faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences, Languages and Liberal Arts Unit, represented RHU at the 6th Barcelona Conference on Education, part of the International Academic Forum (IAFOR), from September 30 to October 4, 2025. She presented her research titled “Using ChatGPT-4o Feedback to Enhance ESL Students’ Writing,” which explored how AI-driven feedback combined with instructor guidance can noticeably improve students’ writing skills, highlighting RHU’s leadership in integrating AI into higher education teaching and learning.
The conference brought together researchers and educators from over 62 countries to share ideas on the latest in education, arts, media, and culture. The event provided a platform for innovative discussions on global trends in education, highlighting intercultural and interdisciplinary collaboration.

In her presentation, Dr. Alameddine highlighted how RHU’s use of ChatGPT-4o as a feedback tool offers students immediate, constructive responses to their writing while preserving the instructor’s essential role in guiding learning. Her study found that AI-assisted feedback, when well-managed, encourages critical thinking, independence, and measurable improvement in students’ writing skills.
While attending sessions on the use of AI in higher education, Dr. Alameddine proudly noted that several of the strategies being discussed have already been put into practice at RHU. This recognition reaffirms RHU’s status as one of the leading universities adopting innovative, technology-driven approaches to teaching and learning.
