    RHU kickstarts its one-of-a-kind Technocamp

    RHU kick started its one-of-a-kind Technocamp at 9:00 a.m. today. 23 students from different Lebanese high schools aged 14 to 18 joined this grueling event that is intended to develop their interest and passion in robotics and computer technology.

     

    23 participants gathered for the first week of the program near the Admissions Office. They were greeted by Ms. Zeina Tannir, Director of RHU Admissions Office, and assistant professor of Mechancial and Mechatronics Engineering and founder of the Student Technology Club, Dr. Bassam Moslem. They then toured the campus before attending an introductory sessions to the “World of Robotics” delivered by Dr. Bassam Moslem. Following this session, Dr. Mohammad Al Abed, associate professor and Chair of the Computer and Information Systems Department greeted them to a “Computing Field: Mobile/Web Development and Computer Security” introductory session in the computer labs. Following lunch they joined a billiard and table tennis games coordinated by RHU Athletics Department with the direct support and assistance of Coach Khaled Baba.

     

     

    RHU Technocamp is tailored to shape the minds of the future robotics engineers and computer scientists combined with numerous and fun summer activities. The camp will extend over a period of two weeks from July 1 to 13, 2019.

     

    During the first week, participants will learn the basics of programming and design concepts related to robotics and web development techniques. The second week will focus on problem-solving and team-oriented competitions, such as robo-soccer, line-tracking robots, maze-solving robots, and many others. In addition, participants will develop their personal web pages and host them online.

     

     

    At the end of the educational camp, students would have acquired the basic skills that can help them develop and pursue high-level robotics and participate in national, regional, and international competitions. Furthermore, they would have acquired the essential knowledge and techniques for developing websites.
