    Two RHU teams win the RHU AI Club “AI in Healthcare Competition”

    The RHU Artificial Intelligence (AI) Club committee, Aline Hassan, Ghinwa El-Masri, Jana Kabrit, Dalia Raidan, and Yasmine Abu Adla, organized the RHU 2021 AI in Healthcare Competition for RHU students on Friday, June 11, 2021.

     

    The team of Mohamad Joudi and Abed Nahouli (computer science) won first place in the competition and received L.L 1,300,000 prize from RHU. The second place went to the team of Oussama Matar (mechatronics engineering) and Hamza Mneimneh (finance and banking/ accounting) and received LL 950,000 as a prize.

     

     

    The competition focused on building AI-based applications for the medical and healthcare sectors. Teams from different majors including business administration, computer science, computer and communications engineering, and mechatronics engineering took part in this competition.

     

    The first-place winner team presented a website and mobile application prototype for a smart breast cancer diagnosis using an open-source dataset of breast cancer cell features. The second-place winner team presented a similar project application based on different features.

     

    The judging panel consisted of RHU professor and Chair of ECE Department Mohamad Diab, associate professor and Chair of CIS Department Mohamad El Abed, Professor Rached Zantout, and associate professor Jad Nasreddine. They carefully selected the winners of the competition based on the project’s innovation, the AI techniques used, and its relevancy to the healthcare domain.

     

    RHU AI Club congratulates both winning teams and looks forward to hosting more events in the future.
