From RHU to making a global impact, Dr. Samer El-Zahab has crafted a remarkable journey of excellence in civil engineering and beyond. After earning his BSc in Civil Engineering from RHU (2011), he pursued an MSc at UOB–Lebanon (2013) and a Ph.D. at Concordia University, Canada (2018), along with PMP, COPC, and Lean Six Sigma certifications.

Today, Dr. El-Zahab is an Assistant Professor at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, where he combines traditional civil engineering with advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His applied research addresses real-world challenges, from predicting concrete strength and detecting water-network leaks to real-time pothole identification, helping to create safer, more resilient cities.
Working with municipalities and institutions worldwide, he develops practical AI-powered applications that turn lab innovations into tools for classrooms and communities. A committed mentor and curriculum innovator, he designs ABET-ready course materials to boost student success and widely shares knowledge through educational videos and posts.
We are incredibly proud that Dr. El-Zahab’s journey reflects RHU’s core values of innovation, excellence, and community impact, inspiring the next generation of engineers and leaders.
