    RHU hosts two of its very own notable alumni

    The RHU Development – Communication and Alumni Relations Office hosted two of RHU’s very own achieved alumni Dr. Toufik Khawli and his wife Dr. Malak Baydoun on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. in RHU MEA Conference Hall. RHU takes pride in their outstanding career achievements, their success stories are a source of pride and admiration.

     

    Dr. Toufik's presentation is entitled "(R)Evolution of Virtual Production Systems."

     

    Dr. Malak's presentation is entitled "E-mobility: Perspectives and Challenges."

     

    Dr. Ing. Toufik Al Khawli earned his B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering at the Hariri Canadian University in Lebanon. In March 2009, he obtained his M.Sc. in Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University together with Fraunhofer Institute of Laser Technology in January 2016. Since August 2016 as a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Aerospace Research and Innovation Centre (ARIC) at Khalifa University in the UAE. His core competencies lie in the areas of industrial robotics, computer vision, machine intelligence, and machine learning. His current focus is to develop interpersonal and leadership skills required for applying automation to several manufacturing processes in order to achieve i) industrial benefits like achieving higher production rates and reductions in labor and manufacturing cost; and ii) contributions to the cutting edge research.

     

    Dr. Malak Baydoun earned her B.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from Rafik Hariri University in 2006. She obtained her MSc in Computational Mechanics in 2009 from the University of Stuttgart. In 2012 Dr. Baydoun completed her PhD in computational mechanics at Graduate School AICES RWTH Aachen University, Germany. After earning her, she worked in FeV for 5 years as a technical specialist in ev components and still consult. Since 2017, she has been working in W motors as a technical project manager.

     

    Toufik and Malak got married in 2012 and today they are mom and dad to two wonderful kids, Ryan-Hamza and Tiba.
