Rafik Hariri University (RHU), represented by its President, Professor Said Ladki, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beirut Arab University (BAU), represented by its President, Professor Wael Nabil Abdel Salam. The agreement aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration and advance scientific partnerships, contributing to the enhancement of higher education quality, the expansion of research opportunities, and service to the wider community.
The Rafik Hariri University delegation included RHU Provost Professor Mahmoud Halablab, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Ibrahim Akkawi, Vice President for Development and IT Mr. Hisham Kobrosli, and Dean of the College of Engineering Professor Mohammad Taha. The signing ceremony was attended by BAU Secretary General Dr. Omar Houri; Dean of Academic Affairs and International Relations, Professor Sobhi Abou Shahine; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Yahya Tamsah; and Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Hania El Nakkash.

This agreement reflects both universities’ shared commitment to fostering academic excellence, cultural understanding, and international research collaboration. It also seeks to broaden educational opportunities for students, faculty members, and researchers through cooperation between the Faculty of Engineering at Beirut Arab University and its counterpart at Rafik Hariri University.
The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including joint supervision of doctoral theses where applicable, the implementation of joint research projects, and the co-publication of scientific research by faculty members from both institutions. It also includes the submission of joint applications for research funding at both national and international levels.
In addition, the agreement promotes academic exchange programs and mobility for students and faculty, supports the organization of joint conferences, workshops, seminars, and scientific activities, and provides opportunities for students to enroll in courses offered by the partner institution in accordance with established regulations and procedures.
Both parties emphasized that this partnership marks an important step toward expanding academic and scientific cooperation, fostering innovation and applied research, and creating a positive impact on students and researchers, while contributing to the advancement of knowledge and development in Lebanon.
