MIT Technology Review Arabia named RHU alumna Dr. Asmaa Abdallah a Leading Innovator under 35 in the MENA region in recognition of developing novel machine-learning methods that will have a significant potential impact on emerging wireless systems.
Innovators Under 35 honors young innovators and researchers who make an impact in their fields and contribute to the betterment of their communities and the world.
Dr. Asmaa's novel contribution allows future 6G wireless systems to bridge the digital divide and promote global and widespread connectivity.
Asmaa Abdallah is a postdoctoral fellow at KAUST. In 2020, she received her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon. She received her M.S. and B.S. degrees (with high distinction) in Computer and Communications Engineering from RHU in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Dr. Abdallah received a scholarship from the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L) to support her doctoral studies at AUB. She also received RHU Nazik Rafik Hariri Academic Excellence Award in 2013 for ranking first in her graduating class.
Her research interests include communication systems, stochastic geometry for wireless communication networks, machine learning for wireless networks, and array signal processing, focusing on energy and spectrum-efficient algorithms for emerging wireless communication technologies.
Since 1999, the MIT Technology Review has recognized and acknowledged distinguished leaders in innovation. Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, and PayPal co-founder Max Levchin are among those who have received this honor.
