RHU’s Computer, Mathematics, and Sciences (CMS) Department in the College of Arts and Sciences hosted its first free high school workshop in Web Development on January 23 and 24, 2026, as part of its commitment to community service, technical skill development, and introducing prospective students to the Computer Science major.

The workshop enrolled 59 students from Zaarourieh High School, École Notre Dame des Dons des Sœurs Antonine, École Carmel Saint Joseph, RHHS, LIS, Marj School, Bizri School, HHS3, Aanout High School, Al Hayat International School, and Iman High School. Students were also given the opportunity to participate in a creative competition to design and develop a website, with a chance to win a 50% scholarship for the Computer Science major at RHU.

Led by CMS Department Chair and Assistant Professor Dr. Lara Abou Orm and Assistant Professor Dr. Roaa Soloh, the workshop introduced participants to the fundamentals of website creation, development, and design. The workshop was supported by RHU computer science students Ms. Amar Abou Niaaj, Ms. Tamara Teryaki, Ms. Mira Al Masri, Mr. Siraj Alaeli, Mr. Mahmoud Sidawi, and Mr. Mohammad Khayyat, fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment.

Along with the hands-on learning experience, students enjoyed a campus tour and an engaging educational day, with many showing interest in pursuing their university studies at RHU across various majors.
This initiative demonstrates RHU’s ongoing commitment to experiential learning, community outreach, and introducing students early to digital and technological fields.
