The RHU Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, in collaboration with the ASCE RHU Student Chapter, organized three hands-on workshops for high school students as part of the 2024–2025 community outreach series. Held on RHU’s campus in Mechref, these workshops provided an engaging platform to introduce young minds to core concepts in civil and environmental engineering.

The first workshop focused on filtration activity, where students explored fundamental water treatment principles through practical demonstrations. This was followed by a session on void and density content, allowing participants to investigate material properties essential for construction. The final workshop featured the Da Vinci Bridge activity, in which students applied structural engineering principles and teamwork to construct a self-supporting wooden bridge, remarkably without the use of glue or adhesives.

These workshops not only served the local community but also successfully promoted awareness of civil engineering as a field of study. Participants were introduced to the ABET-accredited Civil and Environmental Engineering programs offered at RHU. A key highlight of the outreach initiative was the awarding of a 50% scholarship to an outstanding group of student participants, encouraging them to pursue their engineering education at RHU.
