RHU Provost and Professor of Microbiology, Dr. Mahmoud Halablab, participated as an invited speaker at an international conference organized in celebration of World Food Safety Day 2026.
During his presentation, Dr. Halablab underscored the critical role of food safety in safeguarding public health, promoting sustainable development, and ensuring food security. He shared findings from his research on chronic pollution affecting the Upper Litani River Basin, highlighting significant microbiological contamination and its potential implications for human health, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
Dr. Halablab emphasized the importance of continuous environmental monitoring, evidence-based policymaking, and coordinated multi-stakeholder efforts to address this persistent challenge and mitigate its long-term impacts.
