We at RHU strongly believe in the students’ participation in the decision making process about issues that matter to them. For this reason, the Student Representative Committee (SRC) was established to guarantee that students’ voice, opinions, and concerns are debated to influence the outcomes of related decisions. Elections are held annually in which students choose their representatives on the SRC in a transparent and democratic manner.

The SRC consists of 9 students from all Colleges elected by secret ballot to represent the colleges and programs as follows:

3 student representatives from the CE elected by the students of that college.
2 student representatives from the CBA elected by the students of that college.
2 student representative from the CAS elected by the students of that college.
1 student representative from the Freshman Program elected by the freshman students
1 student representative from the Graduate Studies Program elected by students of graduate studies
One faculty advisor is responsible for the whole committee.

Participation in the SRC elections is the right of every student at RHU. To keep those elections transparent, regulated, and unbiased, policies and procedures have been articulated. To learn more about these policies and procedures, you can find attached the handbook below, or refer to the below subsections for brief guidelines.

Eligibility to run for elections

Freshman Students: Must have earned or be registered for a minimum of 12 credits
Undergraduate Students: Must have earned a minimum of 12 credits
Graduate Students: Must have earned a minimum of 6 credits
Intensive Students: Must be registered a minimum of 12 credits excluding the intensive courses
Students on Probation or Disciplinary: Not Eligible

How to Run for SRC elections

Students seeking to nominate themselves for the SRC elections must meet the above mentioned eligibility criteria
Students seeking to run for election must submit a “Candidate Nomination Form”. The form can be obtained from the Student Affairs Office.
After the nomination has been accepted, the nominee is responsible for managing and running his/her campaign after receiving an approval from the Student Affairs Office on all campaign material.

Posters

All posters must have prior approval from the Student Affairs Office before they are placed on campus
Materials to be posted may not contain material that is obscene, pornographic, vulgar, racist, sexist, homophobic, or contain material directed to incite violations of the Student Code of Conduct. Pictures of religious and/or political affiliations are strictly prohibited.
All posters must be stamped by an official stamp of the Student Affairs Office.

Campaigns

Campaign expenditure must not be excessive and be limited to printing, decorations and elections related paraphernalia as approved by the Student Affairs Office
Evidence of undisclosed gifts, services and/or favours shall result in the dismissal of the candidate from the elections and possible disciplinary measures.
Clear evidence of intimidation shall result in dismissal of the candidate/candidates, disciplinary action and possible referral to the police authorities for further investigation and action.

Freshman Students: Must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits at the time of the elections
Undergraduate Students: Must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits unless completing requirements for a degree in final semester
Graduate Students: Must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits at the time of the elections
Intensive Students: Must be registered for a minimum of 12 credits including the intensive courses
Students on Probation/Disciplinary: Eligible
